We need each other
…and we’ve got each other.
As someone who grew up with limited access to food and an eating disorder, I understand how important food security is to our ability to thrive as humans. Until our need to eat is met, it’s near impossible to focus on other necessary tasks like work or school, let alone to volunteer, grow, or engage in adequate self-care, let alone self-actualize. We all deserve to eat, and Hope Fridge was created to ensure that every single person in the Fox Valley and surrounding areas (to start!) gets that opportunity. It is our hope that one day, there will be a Hope Fridge (or something similar) in every city.
Hope Fridge aims to help those most in need to truly see, feel, taste, and know in their hearts that they aren’t alone. Hope Fridge is community love. Hope Fridge is where members of our community come together to show that we care about the health and well-being of people we have never met.
In such a short time, Hope Fridge has been able to share build plans and inspiration from “The Love Fridge” in Chicago, IL (thelovefridge.com) and we owe them a debt of gratitude. Today we have also been in contact with folks who have volunteered to organize and orchestrate our first Hope Fridge build before we’ve even had a chance to begin fundraising. All around us people are ready and wanting to help and we cannot thank them enough for being so willing to give of their time and talents. We’ll be meeting people tomorrow who are interested in hosting a fridge on their property, and we will continue to update our community with a promise of transparency and openness in all we do. This project wouldn’t be possible without you, person reading this, and we thank you for allowing us to earn your trust.
We look forward to building our first fridge this spring and we are so excited to see how many cities we can eventually and continually improve with the installation of a Hope Fridge.
Thank you for being a part of this!
